John Eugene Trammell (Age 88)
John Eugene Trammell passed away peacefully on July 16, 2019. John, known to many as “Gene” was a man of loyalty and resourcefulness. He enjoyed golfing, reading, DC sports, and spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Peggy Ann; his three children, Donna Stocker (Timothy), John Trammell, and Rebecca Testerman (Robert); and grandchildren, Emily Reely (Patrick), David Testerman, Josh Trammell, and Nicholas Stocker. John was greeted in heaven by his parents, Cora Bell and Walter John, his brother, Floyd, and many dear friends. JOHN PAUL GRILLBORTZER, SR.  (Age 67)
Of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Virginia Grillbortzer; son of Mary C. and the late William E. Grillbortzer, Jr.; brother of Janet M. and the late James E. Grillbortzer. Also survived by two children, seven grandchildren, two nieces and multiple great-nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Army Reserve and a guitarist for the Shenandoah Drifters. Private graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Ethel C. Lagos

Mrs. Ethel Cotsonis Lagos, age 96, of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully on July 15, 2019, surrounded by family. She was born in Washington DC, one of six children to the late Harry and Anna Cotsonis. Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Socrates Lagos. She is survived by her sister Zoe Schmid, while siblings Francesca, Alex, Mary and Sophie have predeceased her. She also lost family friend and beloved companion of eleven years, Al DeBernardis. Ethel is survived by her children, Anna (David, also deceased) Scaggs of Fayetteville, PA; Elaine (Stephen) Wallis of Ellicott City, MD; and William (Connie) Lagos of Reston, VA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ethel attended McKinley Tech High School, in Washington, DC and enjoyed attending high school reunions over the years. A Washington Nationals baseball fan, Ethel was an avid bridge player and loved attending and being part of every family affair. A beauty inside and out, she was elegant, strong, caring, and an inspiration to her family and those who called her a friend. She was a devoted wife and mom; had a wide circle of friends; and always had a sensitive, caring, and positive outlook on life. She also had a great sense of humor, a terrific smile, and loved to laugh. She was proud of her Greek heritage and in the early years attended St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church in Washington DC, along with her family, including annual vacations at the beach. She loved to dance and liked listening to music, including anything by Perry Como.

Eric was a graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School and the University of Maryland. He was an engineer at the Department of Defense. On July 8, 2019 our beloved Kathy died peacefully and is now in the arms of our Lord. Kathy was born on February 1, 1956 in Washington D.C. Kathy attended St. Bernadette, Holy Name Academy, and later graduated with honors from Maryland University with a Master’s degree in education. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Patricia Cronin; brothers, Michael Cronin Sr. (Jeanie).Don Cronin (Myra), and Christopher Cronin. Beloved aunt of Cristina Cronin Scheffman, Jenifer Cronin Winkler, Kati Cronin, Michael Cronin Jr., Don Cronin, Jr., Brian Cronin, and Genevieve Cronin. We will always remember her fearlessness and love for Shakespeare. KRUITHOFF, Idele E.

IDELE EDELINE KRUITHOFF

Idele Edeline Kruithoff, 96, was born in Kensington, Minnesota on November 8, 1922, the youngest child of Magnus and Inga Marie Larson.

As a young woman, during WWII, she moved east to accept a civil servant position in Washington, DC. She continuously worked for the government for more than three decades before retiring from her supervisory position with the National Science Foundation (NSF). After her retirement, she enjoyed the camaraderie of working part-time at the information booth at Wheaton Plaza (Westfield Wheaton Mall) for several years. During that period, she enjoyed traveling to Eastern and Northern Europe, East Asia, and throughout the US and Canada. Idele throughout her life had many interest; in particular, she enjoyed reading, boating, swimming, going to the theater, ice skating, and gardening. Her long marriage to Robert Kruithoff ended in divorce.

Idele was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Rose Langseth, Evelyn Mertz, and Myrtle Taylor; and her brothers, Clarence Larson, Melvin Larson, and Morrell Larson. She is survived by sister in-law Marlys (Morrell) Larson, of Sun City West, AZ, several nieces and nephews, and many good friends and neighbors. A viewing followed by a memorial will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 10 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home located at 500 University Blvd. W., Silver Spring, MD 20901. Interment services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Lincoln Cemetery at 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
